Qualifications didnt start until about 12:30, due to the rain and an extremly cold track temperature. The track crew did they're best to get it dry (they were on the track from 5am that morning) but didnt succeed untill lunchtime. Only 1 qualifying session was put in due to time reasons. That finished at about 5:00, so up untill our curfue of 6:00, the race director made the wise decision to have a test and tune session until the end.
Sunday
Eliminations started after a Terry Gibbs tribute on the startline (which spreed all the way down to the 330ft foam block, my dad reckons there were about 600 people out there- which just shows how many friends terry had) you can see a picture of the tribute on The racing started at about 12:00 after more track prep. Due to most racers going home or not turning up, most classes started in the finals, which made things go quicker. But yet again, the rain came down at about 3:00. So the race director made yet another wise decision to call off the meeting. I would personaly like to thank the whole Shakespeare County Raceway crew on doing a fantastic job on the track, during the meeting and the weekends before.
Saturday was a complete success. 2 qualifying rounds were scheduled (3 weather permitting). But due to weather, track conditions, racers being on time and marshalls pushing all vehicles through as quick as possible, we managed 5 qualifying rounds. There were 1 or 2 stoppages during the day and the quallifying sessions finishing just after 6:30.
Sunday
Sunday also was a very good day of racing. All the elimination rounds were completed, only running 30 minutes after the usual curfue. (Which isn't too bad seeing as though we started an hour later at 12:00) The only really big delay was when Ian Norman blew up the clutch shotly after launch. It was completely destroyed and broke his 4th metatarsal bone on his right foot (or left- one of the two). the fire and safety crew arrived quickly after the incident. All in all it was a really good weekend, with plenty of positive feed back. im sure the august meeting will be even better!

Nostalgia Nationals
Saturday
On saturday, the heat was definately on all the drivers. Litteraly!! The air temperature was around 30 celcius and the track temperature was 71 celcius! With the track temperature being so hot, many of the drivers found it hard to put the power down on the track, and when the track crew tried to sled the track, the rubber was actually peeling up off the track!!! But still it was a good days racing.
Sunday
Sunday was also was a good day day at shakey. The weather was cooler than saturday but still very hot (high 20's) and the track temperature was still about 50 degrees! The fuel alterds made 2 appearences that day and with a good turn out. I think it was about 7 fuel alterds in total. But tipical british weather set in and by 4o'clock, the rain came!

Bulldog Bash
Friday
The 20th anniversary of the bulldog bash! Who knew that after 20th years of sucsess, the 20th would be 20 times better and promises more and more every year! With over 1500 runs on the first day alone from al the run wat ya brungers and an exellent display put on by the demo vehicles the bulldog bash was once more in full swing. Highlights of the demo runs were Roel Koedam, with a 6.6 second pass at 183mph, and he had to get off the thottle for quite a sizeable amount of time!!! Eric Teboul brought his rocket bike for another shot at breaking his own personal best time of 5.6 seconds set at hockenheim. 2 years ago when he came here last he put down a 6.1 second pass at 193 mph. Everyone thought that was impressive. This year, he put more fuel in the bike. Enough to power him to the 990ft mark. the countdown began and off he went, storming past the half way mark at 221mph in 3.7 seconds and completed the quarter in 5.8 seconds at 197 mph! And always a crowd pleaser, side by side jets cars!
